"Every effort has the promise of a better tomorrow."
Htet Aung embodies this powerful mantra as he navigates his journey in the culinary world. Currently the chief at Mable Restaurant in Mae Sot, Thailand, Htet Aung's path began with the Rays of Youth's Batch-2 vocational education training program in Food & Beverage, which he joined in 2023. Motivated by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was determined to turn adversity into opportunity. Missing out on the first batch only fueled his passion for cooking when he discovered the second through the Rays of Youth platform.
Initially uncertain about his future, Htet Aung enrolled in the program, eager to gain the skills that would transform his dreams into reality. Throughout the course, he not only refined his cooking abilities but also developed essential social and language skills. A pivotal study tour opened his eyes to Mae Sot's vibrant entrepreneurial landscape, further igniting his ambition.
Despite facing communication barriers during his internship at Mable Restaurant, he persevered, seeking guidance from senior cooks and diligently improving his Thai language skills. His hard work paid off when he secured a position as a Cook Assistant, eventually mastering both Western and Thai menus.
Today, Htet Aung stands as a testament to resilience and determination. He encourages young people everywhere to awaken their potential and seize opportunities, no matter their circumstances. Grateful for the invaluable experiences from the vocational program, he is excited to share his knowledge with others and continues to refine his culinary expertise, envisioning a future filled with promise and possibility.
