“Today is not Tomorrow, but start to do it.”
Meet Nay Shine, a remarkable individual whose journey from student to successful media freelancer showcases the power of passion and perseverance. Growing up in the vibrant atmosphere of the Children’s Development Centre (CDC), a migrant school, he completed his education up to Grade 12. In 2014, fueled by his love for music, Nay Shine joined the Rays of Youth Music Program, immersing himself in the world of sound and performance.
Over two transformative years, Nay Shine mastered the keyboard, learned to read music, and performed at various events. However, his education extended beyond music. The program equipped him with vital knowledge on sexual reproductive health and rights, child rights, active citizenship, safe migration, and human trafficking. He also developed essential life skills in leadership and attended workshops on sound systems and media production, gaining expertise in photography, filming, and video editing.
Before joining Rays of Youth, Nay Shine had little knowledge of music. The program ignited his passion for songwriting and composition, while the media skills he acquired empowered him to manage video production projects independently. This invaluable experience paved the way for his four-year tenure with the Youth Empowerment Project under Rays of Youth.
Today, Nay Shine thrives as a media freelancer, utilizing the design, production, and editing skills honed during his time with the program. His message to young people is clear: “Learning is never too late. Use your time wisely—don’t waste it. Follow your passions, but don’t forget to focus on your education. Good time management is key to achieving your goals.”
Nay Shine expresses his heartfelt gratitude to Rays of Youth: “This program helped me find my passion and provided practical knowledge that I apply every day in my career and life. Thank you for helping me discover my potential.”
