"Move forward with self-confidence."
For Aung Thiha, these words became the guiding force that transformed his life. Growing up in Mae Sot and attending a migrant learning center, he faced numerous challenges, especially when the Covid-19 pandemic temporarily suspended schools, leaving his future uncertain. Unsure of the path ahead, Aung Thiha found his passion in media when he joined the Vocational Education Training (VET) Batch-1 Media & Creative Course at Rays of Youth in 2022.
In the program, Aung Thiha immersed himself in photography and videography, learning essential skills such as camera handling, editing, filming, and production. But more than technical knowledge, the course taught him valuable life lessons in responsibility, accountability, and self-confidence. These new skills and values gave him the clarity he needed to map out his future.
Today, Aung Thiha is not only pursuing higher education but also running his own small media business from home, specializing in photography, printing, and graphic design. His role as secretary of the ROY Youth Network Group and a member of the Youth Board Committee at Help Without Frontiers Thailand Foundation enables him to manage media activities and design content shared by network members on social media. As a strong advocate for peer-to-peer learning, Aung Thiha actively participates in campaigns and events, empowering others to follow in his footsteps.
Looking ahead, Aung Thiha plans to expand his media business and share his skills with more young people. His message to the youth is simple: "Rather than focusing on what you can’t do, the willingness to try is more important."
Aung Thiha expresses gratitude to Rays of Youth for providing opportunities that help young migrants like him unlock their potential, and he is deeply grateful for the support of donors, teachers, and mentors who helped shape his journey.
