“Success never comes to you; you must go to success. If you want to succeed, you must take action and learn continuously.”
My name is Thant Zin Aung, and I previously studied at Hsa Thoo Lei High School. I applied to the Rays of Youth Vocational Education Training (ROY VET) program after hearing from a friend that it provides guidance and life skills for young people who are unable to continue formal education and feel uncertain about their future. Although I was rejected in the 2022–2023 intake, my determination remained strong, and I applied again.
I joined ROY VET to major in Media & Creative. I began by learning basic Thai language and life skills, followed by ICT, photography, videography, and graphic design. I gained hands-on experience using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva, supported by regular writing and practical assessments.
Despite living 30–40 minutes away in Mae Sot, I managed the challenge through strong time management and remained committed to attending classes on time. The course had a profound impact on my life, helping me discover my career path and apply my skills in real situations. After completing the program, I was given opportunities to join media-related internships, gaining valuable practical experience.
Currently, I am responsible for the Media Section at PlayBook Foundation, handling photography, videography, and editing. Through this work, I am able to support my family and mentor others who aspire to become photographers.
In the future, I aim to open my own photography studio and build my career under the name “Drake.” I sincerely thank the donors for making this free, well-equipped training possible and for supporting young people like me to build a better future.
