Htet Lin Thu

Peer Youth Leadership Batch - 6

Joined Rays of Youth in 2021

“The Effort You Put in now will Ensure You Don’t Regret Anything in the Future”

Htet Lin Thu joined the Rays of Youth Leadership Course in May 2021 with encouragement from a teacher at his primary school. Before joining, he had little understanding of leadership or the value of education in his community. However, the introduction to the program inspired him to return to school and begin shaping a clearer path for his future.

Through the Rays of Youth program, he gained essential knowledge related to personal development, health, social relationships, and community engagement. He transformed from a quiet child with limited exposure into a young leader capable of communicating effectively, guiding others, and contributing meaningfully to community activities. By applying what he learned, he conducted training, supported campaigns, and participated in various youth initiatives experiences that strengthened his confidence and opened new opportunities for growth.

As his leadership journey continued, Htet Lin Thu earned trust and recognition from both teachers and fellow youth. He was elected as a Youth Board Member for 2024–2026 and currently serves as the Vice President of the Youth Network. At the same time, he is working toward his GED qualification, balancing academic responsibilities with youth leadership roles. He contributes actively to school activities as well, supporting events, offering guidance, and facilitating activities for other students.

His long-term goals include continuing his leadership journey within the Youth Board, completing his GED, pursuing university studies, and eventually working in the NGO sector to support social development in migrant communities.

He expresses deep gratitude to Rays of Youth, which he describes as his “second teacher.” He acknowledges that his progress is not the result of effort alone but also the guidance, support, and encouragement provided by the program support that has helped him and many other migrant youths move closer to their hopes and dreams.
