Joined Rays of Youth in 2022

“Forget the mistake, remember the lessons”

Manaw Phyu Wai first learned about the Rays of Youth Leadership Training through a former youth leader and the program’s Facebook page. Seeing how Rays of Youth supported migrant children and young people through education and community activities, she felt inspired to join Batch 7. She hoped to strengthen her abilities, understand social issues more deeply, and contribute meaningfully to the community around her.

Through the leadership training, she gained essential knowledge on youth development, human rights, social issues, and advocacy. She participated in awareness activities, community campaigns, and the development of IEC materials for children and youth in migrant areas. She also took part in advocacy events and research projects focused on migrant challenges experiences that helped her understand real community needs and shaped her path as a young leader. These opportunities improved her leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, all of which continue to support her growth today.

Currently, she volunteers in the fundraising department at Mae Tao Clinic, a well-known border clinic. She applies many skills gained from Rays of Youth, including content writing, creative thinking, and effective communication. She prepares weekly updates for donors, helps develop fundraising content, and works closely with international supporters. Her improved teamwork and computer skills have strengthened her capacity to contribute professionally and confidently.

Having completed her GED, she is now applying for scholarships and plans to pursue university education. After graduating, she hopes to apply her knowledge and experience to build a career that supports migrant communities and strengthens youth participation in social development.

Her message to young people is to pursue their goals with determination and continue learning, no matter how small the opportunity may seem. She encourages youth to stay curious, enjoy their journey, and contribute positively to their surroundings.

She expresses her deep gratitude to Rays of Youth for opening doors of opportunity, shaping her leadership journey, and inspiring her to continue working for the betterment of her community.
